40-Year-Old Patient with Multiple Hernia Defects Successfully Treated with Advanced Laparoscopic TAPE Technique

The patient, who had previously undergone two failed open hernia surgeries, was experiencing subacute intestinal obstruction caused by a complicated incisional hernia.
Upon laparoscopic exploration, our skilled surgical team discovered 16 “Swiss cheese” defects in the abdominal wall, a situation that required an expert, multifaceted approach.
Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, a leading consultant surgeon at Dr. Mehta’s Hospital, performed a Transabdominal Partially Extraperitoneal (TAPE) repair using a 25×20 cm composite mesh, which included a combination of non-absorbable 3D polyester textile and absorbable hydrophilic collagen mesh. The surgery aimed to completely cover and reinforce the multiple defects, ensuring a solid recovery foundation.
Thanks to the use of cutting-edge minimally invasive surgical techniques, the patient’s recovery was swift, and they were discharged earlier than anticipated.
