The Nursing Department organized an IVF training program for final-year B.Sc. Nursing students at Sridevi College of Nursing on 11 July 2026. The program provided comprehensive training in assisted reproductive technologies, IVF procedures, patient counseling, and nursing care in fertility services.

Department of Pediatrics Conducted Pediatric Screening Camp

The Department of Pediatrics successfully conducted a Pediatric Screening Camp on 12 July 2026, which received an excellent response, with 112 walk-in beneficiaries. Children were evaluated by Dr. Gowrishankar N. C., Head of Pediatrics & Pediatric Pulmonologist; Dr. L. K. Premkumar, Deputy Head of Pediatrics; and Dr. Divya M., Pediatrician.

The session was delivered by Dr. Yuvaraj, Anesthetist from Thunder Bay, Canada, and focused on contemporary techniques, safety considerations, and evidence-based practices in labour analgesia.

Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Celebrated IAP BLS CPR Day with Community Awareness and Hands-on Training

The Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine celebrated IAP BLS CPR Day by organizing CPR awareness programs at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Adyar, and MCC School, Chetpet. The initiative aimed to promote awareness about Basic Life Support (BLS) and the importance of early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in saving lives.

As part of the observance, the department also organized a hands-on CPR training session for the hospital’s maintenance staff, nursing team, and facilities team at the Mehta Basement Auditorium. The practical training enhanced participants’ life-saving skills and reinforced the hospital’s commitment to emergency preparedness, community education, and patient safety.

The academic session focused on the latest evidence-based approaches to the diagnosis, risk assessment, and management of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.

Dr. Balamourougane P Delivered Expert Talk at SPTSCON 2026

Dr. Balamourougane, Pediatric Surgeon, served as a National Faculty member at SPTSCON 2026, the Thoracic Chapter of Pediatric Surgery, held in Visakhapatnam from 24–26 July 2026. During the conference, he delivered an expert talk on “Recurrent Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) – Challenges,” sharing his clinical experience and discussing the complexities, surgical challenges, and contemporary management strategies for recurrent congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

In-House Obesity Screening Camp Successfully Conducted

An In-House Obesity Screening Camp was conducted on 26 July 2026 to promote awareness and facilitate the early detection of obesity-related health risks. A total of 48 participants underwent Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment, body composition analysis, and clinical consultation as part of the screening program.

Department of Emergency Medicine Conducted Mock Practical Examination for Emergency Medicine Residents

The Department of Emergency Medicine conducted a Mock Practical Examination for Emergency Medicine residents at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, Global Campus. The academic program brought together more than 50 registered residents from across Tamil Nadu. The mock practical provided an opportunity for hands-on learning, clinical assessment, and examination preparation, supporting knowledge exchange and strengthening the clinical competencies of postgraduate trainees in emergency medicine.

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer Participated in SeeMe@Best Conclave 2026

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Deputy Head, Department of Minimal Access & General Surgery, was invited by MSN Laboratories to attend the SeeMe@Best Conclave 2026, held in Candolim, Goa, on 10 July 2026. The conclave focused on contemporary concepts in obesity and modern obesity management, providing an opportunity for academic exchange, knowledge sharing, and discussions on evidence-based approaches to patient care. His participation reflected the department’s commitment to staying abreast of advances in obesity and metabolic disorder management.

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer Successfully Managed High-Risk Small Bowel Obstruction Using Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Deputy Head, Department of Minimal Access & General Surgery, successfully managed a 54-year-old patient with high-risk small bowel obstruction and impending strangulation. The patient, who had multiple medical comorbidities, including a previous cerebrovascular accident (CVA) and ongoing antiplatelet therapy, was referred from a private nursing home because of the complexity and high operative risk.

Following rapid assessment and stabilization by the Emergency Department team at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, the patient underwent emergency laparoscopic surgery within two hours of presentation. The procedure was completed entirely through a minimally invasive approach, avoiding conventional open surgery. The patient made an uneventful recovery and was discharged on postoperative day 2. This case demonstrated the hospital’s expertise in managing complex emergency surgical cases through multidisciplinary teamwork, advanced laparoscopic techniques, and comprehensive perioperative care.

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer Performed the First MIPH Procedure at Dr. Mehta’s Global Campus

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Deputy Head, Department of Minimal Access & General Surgery, successfully performed the first MIPH (Minimally Invasive Procedure for Hemorrhoids) at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, Global Campus. The procedure was carried out on a 34-year-old patient with Grade III hemorrhoids and early obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS) using the stapled hemorrhoidopexy technique.

This milestone marked the expansion of advanced minimally invasive colorectal surgical services at the Global Campus. The patient experienced minimal postoperative pain and was discharged the following day, highlighting the benefits of minimally invasive surgery in improving patient recovery and outcomes.

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer Conducted CME Webinar on Obesity Management for General Practitioners

As part of the department’s ongoing “Obesity is a Chronic Disease” awareness initiative, Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Deputy Head, Department of Minimal Access & General Surgery, conducted an online Continuing Medical Education (CME) webinar for local general practitioners.

The session focused on the early recognition of obesity, evidence-based medical management, appropriate referral pathways, and the evolving role of minimally invasive and metabolic surgery in the comprehensive treatment of obesity. The initiative promoted collaboration between primary care physicians and specialists, reinforcing the importance of multidisciplinary care and early intervention to improve patient outcomes.
