This July, Dr. Mehta’s Multi-Speciality Hospital is raising awareness about the silent complications of diabetes—neuropathy, retinopathy, and nephropathy. With over 101 million Indians living with diabetes, these organ-threatening conditions often progress unnoticed until they become severe or irreversible. Early screening for nerve damage, vision changes, and kidney health is essential to protect long-term wellbeing.

Doctors’ Day Celebration 2025

Doctors’ Day 2025 was celebrated at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals with heartfelt tributes to the dedication, compassion, and tireless service of the medical fraternity. The program featured inspiring speeches, cultural performances, and moments of gratitude, where colleagues, staff, and patients expressed appreciation for the invaluable contributions of doctors in shaping healthier lives.

German Nursing Students Gain Hands-On Pediatric Experience

From June 30 to July 23, 2025, seven nursing students from Germany successfully completed their clinical posting in the Pediatric Specialty at Dr. Mehta’s Multispecialty Hospitals, Chennai. During this immersive program, the students had the opportunity to rotate through various Pediatric units, including the Pediatric Wards, PICU, operating theatre, NICU, and Outpatient services, gaining comprehensive exposure to child healthcare practices.

The students demonstrated remarkable discipline, cooperation, and enthusiasm, actively engaging with the nursing team and observing Pediatric procedures with keen interest. Their curiosity, attentiveness, and commitment to learning were highly appreciated by the hospital staff, reflecting the value of international clinical collaborations in nurturing future healthcare professionals.

Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program Training

The Department of Nursing organized an Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) training on 19th July 2025 at the Basement Auditorium, Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, Chennai. The session brought together 42 participants, including nurses and Pediatric care providers, who were guided by six certified instructors.

The program emphasized evidence-based NRP guidelines and included both theoretical instruction and hands-on training through skill stations and simulation-based learning. Participants demonstrated marked improvement in confidence and preparedness to manage neonatal emergencies, further strengthening the hospital’s commitment to excellence in new-born care.

Observer Role at NRP Provider Course

Ms. Udaya Rani participated as an Observer in the NRP Provider Course held at the Chetpet Unit of Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals. The experience provided her with valuable exposure to structured neonatal resuscitation training and enhanced her understanding of evidence-based new-born care practices.

Pediatric Critical Care Nursing Workshop Elevates Skills

On 11th July 2025, Dr. Mehta’s Multispecialty Hospitals, Global Campus hosted a Pediatric Critical Care Nursing Workshop, bringing together 77 dedicated nurses from across Chennai to enhance their expertise in caring for critically ill children.

The workshop featured interactive learning sessions and five hands-on skill stations that focused on critical areas such as respiratory support, ventilator care, hemodynamic monitoring, raised ICP management, and securing lines with care bundles. Participants also engaged in practical exercises covering systematic patient assessment, ISBAR communication, medication error prevention, safe transport practices, and crisis resource management (CRM) with quality CPR.

Through this comprehensive program, nurses gained invaluable experience in both clinical procedures and collaborative patient care, fostering improved communication, safety, and clinical excellence in Pediatric critical care. The event underscored the hospital’s commitment to continuous professional development and the highest standards of Pediatric nursing care.

National IAP CPR Day: Strengthening Lifesaving Skills

On 21st July 2025, the Department of Pediatrics at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals observed National IAP CPR Day in collaboration with IAPCCB. The event emphasized the importance of lifesaving Pediatric resuscitation skills, bringing together healthcare professionals to reinforce best practices in Pediatric emergency care. The program highlighted the hospital’s ongoing commitment to patient safety and excellence in Pediatric critical care.

Talk on CAKUT at Mediscans

On 22nd July 2025, Dr. Kalaivani Ganesan delivered a lecture on CAKUT Antenatal Hydronephrosis at Mediscans. The session explored the importance of antenatal detection, multidisciplinary management, and long-term follow-up in children with congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract.

Dr. M. Raghul Showcases Advances in Pediatric Surgery at State Conference

Dr. M. Raghul, Department of Pediatric Surgery, presented six papers on advanced laparoscopic procedures and Pediatric malignancies at the Tamil Nadu State Pediatric Surgery Conference, Trichy 2025. He also served as the Quiz Master, engaging participants in an interactive knowledge session. His presentations showcased the hospital’s advancements in Pediatric surgical care and academic leadership.

Leadership Roles at Chennai Menopause Society

At the Chennai Menopause Society, faculty members from Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals earned prestigious leadership positions:

Premalatha was nominated as President.
Nandita Thakkar was appointed as Joint Secretary.

Faculty Contributions at “SCAN & SCOPE” Workshop

Dr. Premalatha and Dr. Nandita Thakkar from the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology were invited as faculty for the workshop “SCAN & SCOPE,” where they contributed to knowledge sharing and hands-on training in gynecological imaging and endoscopy. The program strengthened collaborative learning and clinical excellence in women’s health practices.

Dr. Priya Kannapan as Quiz Master at CMS Workshop

On 18th July 2025, Dr. Priya Kannapan, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, served as Quiz Master at the CMS SCAN & SCOPE Workshop held at Firm Banquet Hall, Chennai. The interactive quiz session engaged participants in testing their knowledge of gynecological and imaging practices, adding both academic rigor and excitement to the workshop.

Postgraduate Achievement, Department of OBGY

Dr. Poornasree, postgraduate in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, won the Second Prize for her poster presentation at the Chennai Menopause Society Annual Conference. Her achievement highlights the department’s focus on research, academic excellence, and nurturing the next generation of specialists.

Dr. Nivetha Speaks on POCSO Act

On 7th July 2025, Dr. Nivetha, Deputy Head of Emergency Medicine, delivered a talk on the POCSO Act at the WDA Annual Conference 2025, held at King’s Hotel, Egmore. Her session emphasized child protection, legal awareness, and the role of medical professionals in safeguarding children’s rights.

REACT Paramedic Workshop at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals

The Department of Emergency Medicine hosted the REACT Paramedic Workshop at the Global Campus, Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals on 18th July 2025. Faculty members Dr. Nivetha, Dr. Venkat, and Dr. Krishnamoorthy trained participants in prehospital emergency response, trauma care, and rapid assessment techniques. The workshop enhanced paramedics’ readiness in handling emergencies effectively.

Prof. G. Thilagavathy Oration by Dr. Seetha Lakshmi

At TAPCON 2025, held on 25th July 2025, Dr. Seetha Lakshmi from the Department of Laboratory Sciences delivered the prestigious “Prof. G. Thilagavathy Oration.” Her lecture, “From Specimen to Solution – Navigating the Road to Clinical Mastery,” highlighted the critical role of laboratory medicine in accurate diagnosis, patient safety, and evidence-based clinical decisions.

Dr. Rose Raichel, Consultant, Internal Medicine, participated as a delegate at TRENDO 2025, the 13th Annual Conference of the Endocrine Society of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, held in June 2025 at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. Ms. Thilagavathy Vasudevan Highlights Telehealth Advancements at Neonatal Nursing Conference

On July 23, 2025, Ms. Thilagavathy Vasudevan, Head of Nursing, served as a distinguished faculty speaker at the Neonatal Nursing Conference organized by Sri Venkateswara University College of Nursing. She delivered an insightful session titled “Closing the Gap: Telehealth in Neonatology,” where she explored the transformative role of telehealth in neonatal care, bridging critical gaps between healthcare providers and newborn patients. Her presentation highlighted innovative strategies, practical applications, and the potential of remote monitoring to enhance outcomes in neonatology.

First-Ever Hernia Workshop in Collaboration with Medtronic India

Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals hosted it’s first-ever Hernia Workshop in collaboration with Medtronic India, marking a milestone in surgical education. Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Deputy Head, Department of Minimal Access & General

First Advanced Laparoscopic eTEP Rives-Stoppa Hernioplasty

A pioneering surgical milestone was achieved at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals when a 38-year-old female with Class II obesity and multiple midline defects with divarication of recti underwent a laparoscopic eTEP Rives-Stoppa Hernioplasty. Despite financial constraints, the surgical team innovatively performed the procedure using a 30 x 24 cm mesh without the need for expensive composite mesh or tackers, significantly reducing the cost burden. This was the first such surgery performed at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, showcasing the institution’s dedication to patient-centered, affordable, and advanced surgical care.

Global Recognition: Dr. Lydia Jeris W Wins Quiz at Diagnostic Conclave

Dr. Lydia Jeris. W, Consultant, Pathology, represented Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals at the Global Diagnostic Directors’ Conclave and brought pride to the institution by winning first prize in the quiz competition. Her achievement underlined the department’s academic strength and diagnostic excellence on an international platform.

Emergency Nursing Workshop at Sundaram Medical Foundation

Ms. Baby Lakshmi, Deputy Head of Nursing Operations, was invited as a Guest Speaker at the In-house Emergency Nursing Workshop organized by Sundaram Medical Foundation Hospital. Her session was well-received and appreciated for its practical insights, evidence-based practices, and emphasis on emergency preparedness in critical scenarios.

Pediatric BLS Training at Rajalakshmi Nursing College

On 29th July 2025, the Nursing Education team from Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals conducted a Pediatric Basic Life Support (BLS) training program at Rajalakshmi Nursing College, Sriperumbudur. The session equipped nursing students with essential life-saving skills, enabling them to respond effectively to Pediatric emergencies. The program was highly interactive, reinforcing the importance of early intervention in improving child survival outcomes.

TNNMC-Accredited Workshop on Medication Safety

On 25th July 2025, the Department of Nursing organized a TNNMC-Accredited Workshop on Medication Safety for Critical Care and General Care Nursing Staff. The workshop emphasized safe medication practices, error prevention strategies, and the importance of adherence to quality standards in patient safety. Nurses actively engaged in discussions and case-based learning, reflecting the hospital’s focus on continuous nursing education and clinical excellence.

Young Kidneys 2025 CKRT Workshop

The Department of Pediatric Nephrology at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals hosted Young Kidneys 2025, a CKRT (Continuous Kidney Replacement Therapy) Workshop, which was conducted at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals in Chennai, led by M. Vijayakumar at Dr. Mehta’s Hospital, Chetpet. The workshop offered hands-on training in advanced pediatric renal support techniques.

Young Kidneys 2025 National Conference

On 23rd July 2025, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Cervical Cancer. On 25th July 2025, Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals’ dedicated Paramedic team provided on-ground first-aid support at the Don Bosco Sports Event held at ICF Stadium. International Faculty Recognition: Dr. Pradeep Kumar K at Sri Lanka Cadaver Course

Dr. Pradeep Kumar K, Department of Orthopaedics, was invited as faculty at the Arthroscopic Skills Cadaver Course conducted by the Sri Lanka Orthopaedic Association in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Arthroscopy Society on 27th June 2025. On 19th July 2025, Dr. K. Nedunchellain represented Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals as a faculty speaker at the Rela Institute, Chromepet. On 27th July 2025, Dr. Kalaivani Ganesan presented a session on Urinary Tract Infections in Children as part of the Fellowship Certificate Course in Infectious Diseases. Her talk highlighted diagnostic nuances, antibiotic stewardship, and long-term care considerations, enriching the curriculum for upcoming infectious disease specialists.

Poster Presentation by Dr. Impana at TAPCON 2025

Dr. Impana, Department of Laboratory Sciences, presented a poster at TAPCON 2025 titled “Tiny Patients, Giant Challenges: A Case of Giant Cell Fibroblastoma.” Her work brought attention to rare Pediatric pathologies and demonstrated the importance of early detection and innovative diagnostic approaches in complex cases.
