Gallstones (cholelithiasis) are hard particles that form in the gallbladder — a small organ under the liver that helps digest fats. Many people have gallstones with no symptoms, but some develop pain or serious complications that need treatment.

International Recognition for Paediatric Nephrology Faculty at ISPD-APCM 2025

Dr. Kalaivani Ganesan, Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist, was invited as a speaker at the 11th International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) & Asia Pacific Chapter Meeting (ISPD-APCM 2025), held alongside the 39th MSN Annual Congress. Representing India, she served as a faculty member for the session “Transforming and Empowering Success in PD: Symposium on Pediatric PD,” showcasing her leadership and expertise in advancing pediatric peritoneal dialysis practices.

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer at the 1st Global Summit of Surgeons & Gynaecologists

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Deputy Head of the Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery, represented Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals as a National Faculty member at the 1st Global Summit of Surgeons & Gynaecologists, organized by the International College of Laparoscopic Surgeons.
He shared insights on Minimal Access Surgery alongside global experts and was also conferred Fellowship of the International College of Laparoscopic Surgeons, recognizing his significant contributions to laparoscopic and robotic gastrointestinal surgery, education, and collaborative advancement in minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Saravana Kumar Receives Individual Achievement Award from ACEP

Dr. Saravana Kumar, Group Unit Head, received the Individual Achievement Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) through its International Emergency Medicine Section. The honor recognizes Ambassadors who have advanced emergency medicine in their regions. His leadership and contribution to emergency care earned him this distinguished accolade.

Dr. Premalatha, Senior Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynecology, delivered an insightful presentation on “Hormone Therapy in Women Under 40 Years” at the Kanchipuram Obstetrics and Gynecology Society Conference. Her expertise helped highlight the latest advancements and clinical approaches to hormone therapy for younger women, contributing significantly to regional women’s health care awareness.

Dr. Prem Kumar Invited as Faculty for Shoulder Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Workshop

Dr. Prem Kumar, Anaesthesiologist, served as faculty for a cadaveric workshop on shoulder musculoskeletal ultrasound at Indira Medical College Hospital. The event, hosted jointly by the Departments of Anaesthesia and Anatomy, emphasized his expertise in musculoskeletal imaging and pain management.

Successful Completion of Kangaroo Mother Care TOT at PSG College

Ms. Palaniyammal, Ms. Chithra, and Ms. Kanchana successfully completed the Kangaroo Mother Care Training of Trainers (TOT) program at PSG College, Coimbatore, on 11th and 12th September 2025. The training equipped them with advanced knowledge and skills to promote and implement Kangaroo Mother Care practices effectively for newborn care.

Dr. Balamourougane Showcases Paediatric Surgical Excellence at SPUCON 2025

Dr. Balamourougane, Department of Pediatric Surgery, presented two videos on “Advanced Reconstructive Pediatric Urology” at SPUCON 2025: “Pneumo-vesicoscopy: Simplifying Port Placement” and “Pneumovesicoscopy: Spectrum Beyond Simple Reimplantation.” His presentation “Simplifying Port Placement” won First Prize in the video session, reflecting innovation and excellence in pediatric surgical techniques.

Dr. Priya Kannappan Participated as Panelist in CME on Preterm Labour and PPROM

Dr. Priya Kannappan, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, served as a panelist in the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Preterm Labour and Pre-labor Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM). The event took place on 12th September 2025 at Hotel Ramada, where she shared her expertise and engaged in discussions with fellow medical professionals.

Successful Basic Life Support (BLS) Training at Elica Health Services

On 12th September 2025, Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, Chennai, conducted a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training session at Elica Health Services. The program was led by Mr. R. Manickavasagam, Head of Advanced Paramedic, Academics & AHS Coordinator at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals. The training aimed to enhance emergency response skills among IT professionals, with over 100 employees participating.

Key components of the session included:
1. CPR Techniques: Instruction on performing CPR for adults, children, and infants, including considerations for pregnant individuals.

2. AED Demonstrations: Hands-on training with Automated External Defibrillators to manage cardiac emergencies effectively.

3. Choking Response: Techniques for removing foreign bodies causing choking in adults, children, and infants.

The interactive nature of the program ensured active participation, reinforcing the importance of prompt and effective response in emergency situations. Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals remains committed to offering Basic Life Support training and handling common emergencies across all communities.
