On 1st November 2025, Dr. Hemchand Prasad, Senior Consultant, Pediatric Endocrinology, led the 14th Annual Type 1 Diabetes Support Group Meeting during the IRA Conference in Chennai. The session focused on empowering patients and families with knowledge about managing Type 1 Diabetes, addressing challenges in daily care and management, and sharing the latest advancements in treatment. The interactive meet encouraged open discussion, fostering a strong support network for individuals living with diabetes.

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer Invited as Operating Faculty at Government Royapettah Hospital

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Senior Consultant and Deputy Head, Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery, was invited as Operating Faculty for the Medtronic – Pace Advanced Hernia Program at Government Royapettah Hospital on 5th November 2025.

During the program, he successfully demonstrated five complex hernia and anterior abdominal wall reconstruction surgeries, showcasing advanced minimally invasive techniques. The workshop, attended by nearly 50 delegates, was highly appreciated for its surgical clarity, academic value, and hands-on learning experience, making it a significant contribution to surgical education and skill enhancement.

Dr. Vinayak Rengan Won Best Pitch Award at GATES India ICT Channel Summit 2025

The workshop focused on integrating artificial intelligence into laboratory diagnostics, enhancing accuracy and efficiency in clinical testing. Panel Discussion Highlight: Breastfeeding- A Vital Shield of Safety and Immunity for Small and Sick Neonates

A panel discussion on “Breastfeeding: A Vital Shield of Safety and Immunity for Small and Sick Neonates” was held at RR Army Hospital, Delhi, on 16th November 2025, presented by Ms. Palaniyammal, Nurse Manager and NNF EB Member.

The discussion emphasized the life-saving role of breastfeeding in the care of preterm, low birth weight, and sick neonates. Key points included the importance of timely expression, safe transport, and proper storage of breastmilk in NICUs, ensuring optimal nutrition and immunity for vulnerable newborns.

Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Conducted CME on “Benign Adnexal Masses”

On 19th November 2025, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on “Benign Adnexal Masses” at Dr. Mehta’s Hospital. The program focused on the diagnosis, management, and treatment approaches for benign adnexal masses, providing valuable updates for clinicians and enhancing best practices in women’s health care.

Prematurity Nursing Workshop

A Prematurity Nursing Workshop was conducted on 22nd November 2025, focusing on specialized care for premature newborns. The workshop covered essential topics such as neonatal stabilization, feeding practices, and infection prevention. 48 participants attended, gaining hands-on experience and practical insights to enhance the quality of neonatal care.

Early Birds 2025 – Fundraiser for Preterm Babies

Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals successfully organized Early Birds 2025, the 9th edition of its annual World Prematurity Day Fundraiser, on 23rd November 2025 at Vani Mahal, T. Nagar, Chennai. The event aimed to raise awareness about prematurity and support underprivileged families requiring advanced neonatal care.

The theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures” highlighted the hospital’s commitment to improving outcomes for high-risk infants. The evening featured a live musical extravaganza by Timbre Tones with Super Singer fame Mani and Band, creating an engaging platform for advocacy and support.

Premature babies, born as early as 25 weeks or weighing under 500g, often require prolonged NICU care, which can cost Rs. 5–15 lakh—an unaffordable amount for many families. To address this, Dr. Mehta’s Medical Trust has established a dedicated corpus fund, helping 7–8 premature infants each year receive complete treatment.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NICU graduates, families, clinicians, and partners, and successfully raised Rs. 15 lakh to aid neonatal care for underprivileged parents.

Dr. Prabhakar D Inducted into Governing Body of Indian Society of Hypertension

We are proud to announce that Dr. Prabhakar D, Senior Consultant, Cardiology, has been inducted into the Governing Body of the Indian Society of Hypertension, marking a significant leadership achievement in the field of cardiovascular health.

As a co-author, Dr. Prabhakar contributed to presenting portions of the new Hypertension Guidelines, reinforcing evidence-based practices for better patient care. Additionally, he delivered an insightful talk on “End-Organ Damage in Hypertension”, emphasizing the importance of early detection and management to prevent complications.

Dr. Vinayak Rengan Delivered a Talk on AI and Deep Learning in Surgery at IAPSCON 2025

Dr. Vinayak Rengan, Consultant, Pediatric Surgery, delivered an engaging talk at IAPSCON 2025, held in Puri, Odisha, on “How Surgeons Can Get into AI and Deep Learning: A Practical Guide to Annotation, Data Handling, and Building Surgical AI.” His session provided a hands-on approach to integrating artificial intelligence in surgical practice, covering essential steps for data preparation, annotation techniques, and developing AI models tailored for surgical applications. The talk inspired clinicians to explore technology-driven innovations in healthcare.

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer Attended Advanced Hernia Cadaveric Course at University of Manchester

Dr. Nabeel Nazeer, Deputy Head, Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery, attended the Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgical Hernia Cadaveric Course conducted by the European Hernia Society – NHS at the University of Manchester, UK.

The program focused on advanced techniques for managing complex hernias using minimal access approaches. The expertise gained will directly benefit patients at Dr. Mehta’s Hospital, as Dr. Nabeel is among the few surgeons specially trained in advanced hernia and anterior abdominal wall reconstruction surgeries.

Dr. Pavan Arcot Prakash Completed ASCO-SEP Genitourinary Cancer Program

Dr. Pavan Arcot Prakash, Consultant, Orthopedics, has successfully completed the 2024 ASCO-SEP: Genitourinary Cancer Program, certified by Springer Healthcare and featuring licensed content from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
