Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals fondly remembers its founders, Dr. Anantrai Jayanatilal Mehta and Dr. Savitha Ben Mehta, whose dedication, hard work, and humility laid the foundation for this esteemed institution. Dr. A.J. Mehta, inspired by Dr. Guruswamy Mudaliar, began his medical journey in 1932, offering care to the needy while pursuing medicine at Stanley Medical College.
Starting with a small clinic in Sowcarpet, he expanded into pharmaceuticals to make medicines more accessible, all while nurturing the dream of a full-fledged hospital. His wife, Dr. Savitha Ben, who married him at a young age, was encouraged to continue her education and later excelled as a maternal and neonatal healthcare expert. Together, they built the humble two-bed Mehta Nursing Home in Chetpet, which has since grown into a renowned healthcare institution, driven by their shared vision, compassion, and commitment to serving the community.
